Dia's Parable

This is the story of Dia. Dia Mond, 13 years old, brown hair, dressed in a white dress. Dia lets go of her balloon whilst watching a dove. She doesn’t do it on purpose, so Dia is sad. She runs after her balloon, across towns, across fields. Dia runs to catch it. And finally, by the banks of a river, she finds it:
Dia Balloon! Wait! Come back ...
Balloon I’ve got to fly away …
Dia I’m begging you.
Balloon I want to see the stars …
Dia I … I can tell you about them, the stars, if you want …
Balloon How can you? You’ve never been up there …
Dia Well then … I’ll cry, cry until a star takes pity on me and decides us worthy of a visit …

Shan : Hé vous, ouais, écoutez-moi, ça fait des heures qu’on marche, notre prof nous a abandonnées ou ce genre et vous êtes la première personne qu’on croise sur cette petite île de merde, donc s’il vous plaît laissez-moi utiliser votre téléphone.

La réceptionniste : Ce sera une chambre double ou trois chambres simples ?

Shan : Madame, je vous jure / je vais –
Chelsea : / Shan, Shan, laisse-moi essayer. B’jour –
La réceptionniste : Bonjour, que puis-je faire pour vous ?
Chelsea : Euh, ouais, écoutez, mon amie, faut l’excuser. On est coincées, on a juste besoin d’appeler nos parents, s’il vous plaît ?
La réceptionniste : Une chambre double. Mais certainement madame.

Chelsea : C’est quoi ce délire ?
Sarah : Flippant.
Shan : Sarah, réessaie ton téléphone pour voir.
Sarah : Pas de signal.

Esther: I’ve got to leave here Chris.

Chris: What are you saying? Where do you want to go to?

Esther: Far away, Chris. Anywhere. I can’t stay here. I’m surrounded by too many people. I risk getting caught.

Chris: Getting caught?
​
Esther: You heard me alright.
​
Chris: Have you completely lost your mind!!! You’ve got no idea what you’re talking about!! You’ve got nowhere to go.

Esther: Listen to me carefully Chris.
​
Chris: You listen to me. He grabs her violently by the arm. You can’t do that to me. If you leave, I’ll find you and I’ll not hesitate for one moment. You know what I’m capable of darling.

Esther: I know.

Chris: Don’t forget that you owe me money.
​

4 I went shopping for baby clothes and all the girls were princesses and unicorns an there’s the guys one that’s about taking the future and taking the future. The cashier insisted that it was right. I laughed at her. A little girl tried to buy a blue car but her dad made her buy a pink flower.

1 I saw this one article where women had to wear high heels in the workplace even if they didn’t want to. Women have to dress a certain way.
​
3 Generally girls have to care more about their appearance. It frustrates me because dressing to impress others isn’t necessarily what makes you feel comfortable.
​
2 I just ignore those expectations. If you follow them then people will pressure us more. So I do what I feel comfortable what I’m doing. Also guys feel the same way. They can’t wear the clothes they like to all the time. It’s stereotype to see boys in boys clothes and girls in girls but people are being more expressive these days.
